Alumni of the St Catharines Jr A Athletics

The St Catharines Jr A Athletics are in the process of establishing an Alumni Association of past Jr A players from the city. This association will include members of the Jr Athletics, the Lakesides, the Legionaires and other former junior teams from St Catharines.
We would like to have representatives from each of the 'eras' of the teams that would serve as a point of contact and who could assist in organizing and communicating with the players from their playing time. If you or any of the players you played with are interested, please contact Ted Howe Jr, at ejhow@sympatico.ca.

We will post information on this page regarding the lacrosse related activities of graduate Athletics players.

The National Lacrosse League, North America's professional indoor lacrosse league, has announced the members of the National Lacrosse League Hall of Fame Class of 2008. Sal LoCascio, Johnny Mouradian and Tony Resch will be inducted into the NLL Hall of Fame. Neil Stevens will be recognized by the Hall for his contributions to the game as a member of the media.
The Class of 2008 will be honored at halftime of the Third Annual Hall of Fame Game, which takes place on Friday, February 29th at Wachovia Center when the Philadelphia Wings host the New York Titans at 8:00 PM.

The Class of 2008 included three inductees: Mike French, Darris Kilgour (St Catharines Jr A Alumni) and Tom Marechek. The Hall also recognized Tom Borrelli for his contributions to the game as a member of the media in 2007.

Johnny Mouradian (St Catharines Jr A Alumni)

Upon joining the expansion Buffalo Bandits in 1992, Mouradian built a team that became an overnight success, winning the league championship in its inaugural season.
Under Mouradian's watch, Buffalo set league records for winning that remain intact today, including the longest winning streak (22 games) and the only team to go undefeated through an entire season in league history (10-0 in 1993).
Buffalo reached the playoffs in all six seasons during Mouradian's tenure as General Manager (1992-1997).
Mouradian repeated his quick path to success as general manager of the Toronto Rock. On his watch, the club won league championships in 1999 and 2000, the second and third seasons of the existence of the franchise. Mouradian's five championships are the most won by any general manager in league history.
In 2003, Mouradian became the GM and Head Coach of the San Jose Stealth. He was named the league's General Manager of the Year for the 2004 season, in which the Stealth went 11-5. The club has made the playoffs in two of its four seasons in San Jose, most recently reaching the Western Division Final in 2007.
Overall, Mouradian's teams have made the playoffs in 11 of his 15 seasons as a GM with a combined won-loss record of 121-84, which includes a record of 17-6 in playoff games. He continues to serve as the President and General Manager of the Stealth.

BANDITS AND KNIGHTHAWKS RENEW RIVALRY

The Bandits have their work cut out for them, as they will be without forwards Sean Greenhalgh, who is out for the year with a torn ACL, and Brett Bucktooth, who had hip surgery this week and is out for at least a month.

"Without Sean Greenhalgh and Brett Bucktooth we've had to bring in some athletic guys to fill those roles," said Bandits head coach Darris Kilgour. "I'm really looking oto push the ball a little more this year and test the fast breaks. There is no better team to test yourself against than Rochester. I'm really looking forward to this weekend and seeing what we have."
