Welcome to the 2008 Season. As the snow
finally melts away and the sun makes a regular appearance in our day the lacrosse community is jumping into high gear. 2008 is going to be an amazing year as we have a roster of outstanding athletes who
have been conditioning and training all winter long. We are fortunate to have
some of the best talent in the province right here in our backyard and Wednesday nights at Bill Burgoyne Arena are sure to
be loaded with fast paced entertainment for our fans and families.
The
2007 Season could best be described as a year of character building. As an organization
we suffered the loss of Buff McCready & Jerry Spiers. Both dedicated lacrosse
people for many years. Our players learned about loss on and off the floor and
dug deep to bring us a decent winning streak to take us into playoffs. As an
organization we will miss these great men and will always be thankful for their years of volunteerism.
I
want to thank all the board members and their families for all their hard work and dedication.
These lacrosse people meet throughout the winter months, planning, organizing and donated their time away from their
families to make sure we our able to put a premier lacrosse team on the floor year after year.
This
year Morris Conn will be doing double duty as both our General Manager and Head Coach.
Mo has been working every day through out the winter months to make sure everything is set for the first face off of
2008. Mo’s commitment and desire for success for this team is inspiring
and he takes a genuine interest in each of his players on and off the floor. Jamie
Ferguson has been appointed Assistant General Manager. Jamie has been a dedicated
volunteer for our organization for many years and will be a great assistant to Mo.
To our loyal fans, thank you for your dedication and love of the game. During
the 2007 Brampton playoff series we witnessed amazing fan support and we know that will carry forward to 2008. To our players, remember that things in this world that are worth having will not come easy. We believe in this team, in these players, and with the amazing support of the fans,
families and board members we will be proud to stand with you in your quest for that coveted prize known as the Minto Cup.
